Hand Painted Wall Art

Unsure if a wall mural is what you are looking for? Please have a read through through the FAQs to find out more about how to commission a mural, mural pricing, how to book a mural and many more answers to your questions.

What is a wall mural?

A wall mural is a large-scale painting or drawing that is applied directly to a wall, typically as a decorative or aesthetic element.

A wall mural can enhance a space in several ways:

  1. Visual Impact: Wall murals can transform a dull or plain wall into a captivating focal point, adding personality and style to a room.

  2. Personalisation: They offer a customisable way to express individuality, reflecting personal interests, themes, or preferences.

  3. Mood: Murals can set the tone and mood of a space, whether it's creating a calming atmosphere in a bedroom or an inspiring one in a workspace.

How do I choose the right mural for my space?

If you have an initial idea in mind we can work together with the space and your concept to create something unique for you. As a mural artist I have worked on many different types of projects and can help turn your dream space into reality.

What kind of paint do you use?

It depends on the design. If it is an indoor mural in colour I would use a mixture of emulsion and acrylic paints. For black and white line drawing murals I use acrylic paint pens. For outdoor murals I use a mixture of Acrylic based paint, spray paint and masonry paint.

How long does it take to paint a mural?

It depends on the size. A typical mural usually takes between 1 and 3 days.

Does the wall need to be prepped before hand?

Yes. Walls need to have a clean, smooth surface in order for the mural to be at the best quality. Any holes should be filled in and sanded. Freshly painted surfaces ideally should be painted with a silk base (matt can also be used) and a minimum of 1 week drying time prior to starting the mural.

Are murals removable?

Yes and no. Once a mural is on the wall it is a permanent feature. However, if you want to get rid of it after a period of time you will need to paint over it. I suggest using an undercoat with an oil based stain blocker to get optimum coverage before applying your paint.

What is the cost of a wall mural?

It depends on the size and design. The bigger the mural the more expensive. The more detail and colour etc, the more expensive. In order to get a more accurate quote please get in touch and we will work out a cost together. A guide starting price for a mural is £300 excluding travel.

Can I use wall murals in commercial spaces?

Yes, murals are a great way of pulling branding and messages to your clients/staff in commercial spaces.

Do you do outdoor murals?

Yes. Outdoor murals are great, however please bear in mind we can we at the mercy of the great British weather.

Do murals fade over time?

No, I use high quality paints and pigments. Murals should last well over 20 years if taken care of properly.

Are there restrictions or regulations for installing murals in certain areas?

Yes, please check with your landlord if you are in a rented property or planning and building if it is an outdoor mural you are looking for.

Can I remove a wall mural and move it to another location?

If it is painted directly onto a wall the answer is no. If moving it is something you think you will do in future then we can discuss painting it onto removable panels.

Do I need to hire a professional artist to paint my mural?

No, anyone can have a go at painting murals but please keep in mind that experience is important for these artistic installations. A high level of artistic ability is required.

Can I commission a wall mural for a child or babies bedroom?

Yes I use solvent free paints to paint indoor murals. A day or 2 will be required for drying before the child can use the room

I've decided I want a mural, what's the next step?

Once you have an initial idea of what you want for a mural please get in touch with a brief idea of what you would like, dimensions of the wall and ideally some photographs if possible. A trip to the location might be required, this will vary from project to project.

Once we have discussed and agreed a design brief I will ask for a 30% deposit before starting works.

I will design your artwork and then super impose it onto the photos of the mural location. Any changes can be made at this point.

Once we have finalised the design and you have approved artwork can be put onto the wall.

Once the design is finished I will
